Just a Normal Saturday

Last Saturday started out fairly normal. We were having a lazy day hanging out at home, had a yummy lunch, and then put the baby down for her nap. We were just hanging out, me staring at the TV and Marquis playing on the computer, when suddenly there was a boom, the whole building shook, and the power went out. We stared at each other for a minute, and then tried to remember how people entertained themselves before electricity. He grabbed a book, and I decided to do a little rubbernecking. I put on my shoes and started walking toward the sound of the sirens, when I noticed a strange phenomena. I guess that when the power goes out, I'm not the only one that feels like taking a walk. People were out in droves, and all walking the same direction. I talked to neighbors that I didn't know I had. It was actually really fun, and it was a beautiful, sunshiny day for a walk.

It turns out that a transformer had exploded at the power company's substation just three blocks away. Power was out for several blocks and for several hours, but thankfully no one was hurt when it exploded. It was actually a rather fun day!

I have been a blog slacker lately! I broke our new laptop. Thank goodness for warranties! You can take the memory card out of the camera and just pop it into the laptop, which is wonderful! Without that I would actually have to go find the cord in order to get pictures off the camera, and I am far too lazy to sort through that many boxes. But the laptop is now back from the repair shop, and I promise not to break it again anytime soon.
