We had so much fun at the zoo with Grammy and Poppa that we have already gone back! Plus, right after we went last time they opened up a new exhibit called Nature's Nightmares with all kinds of creepy crawly fun things to see. It decided to be a cold and dreary day that day, but we still had a great time.

As we were waiting outside the Nature's Nightmares exhibit, we noticed this sign.

It's just a fun things the kids can do while they are waiting to learn more about the exhibit, but we noticed something that made us laugh. See the last word on the first row?

Sweetheart was super quiet and reserved at first, just being a little shy. I promise she was having fun, despite the lack of a smile in any of these pictures!

As part of the exhibit with all the creepy crawly things, they have free flying bats that could be flying over your head at any time. I was nervous about guano in my hair, until we saw this:

That weird jumble is fifty bats, all cuddled up close for a good long sleep. Hooray for nocturnal animals, and no pooping on my head!
The elephants were so much fun, we probably watched them the longest. The mom just ate her lunch, but the little baby was running around, climbing things, and kicking around balls they have that are full of straw. So fun to watch! Even now weeks later Sweetheart will still talk about the baby elephant kicking the ball.

We went on a Saturday, which was great because Marquis was able to play with us, too. When boring Mommy takes Sweetheart to the zoo, she packs a sandwich and some fruit in the diaper bag with a cup of water, and that's it. But, when Daddy comes, he buys all kinds of yummy food from the vendors, like cotton candy:

And churros:

Lucky kid! Much better than a boring sandwich and an apple.
She suddenly has gotten much better about riding on Marquis's shoulders, and stayed up there for a long, long time before she suddenly realized she was up high and wanted down.

Super fun! What a great day!
