Pirate Birthday Party

My cute little nephew turned five the end of last month, and my sweet sister asked him what kind of cake he wanted. He was very specific in his answer, he said he wanted a pirate ship cake with ghost pirates and the Scooby Doo Gang looking scared. Wow! Specific! Let's see you pull that one off, Lacey!

Pretty soon that idea encompassed the whole party, and a pirate party was planned. My nephew wore his awesome pirate shirt and my sister picked up fun little eye patches and other pirate stuff for the kids.

Wearing an eye patch makes you feel tough, like you can take on the world. Or at least a balloon.

The cake the ship was made out of was regular chocolate cake with yummy ganache in the middle. The sand and the beach was egg-free cake. My sister is awesome! This picture doesn't even do it justice!
And it was so yummy!
