The Adventures of Marquis - Standby to the Horse Show

A few weeks ago we found out that CG had a horse show in Southern California. The part of California she lives in is harder for us to get to, but because I still have flight benefits left over from my airline days, Southern California is pretty easy as long as the flights are not full. We had talked a little bit about going to see the horse show, but the flights looked so full and it didn't look like I would be able to get work off, so we didn't tell CG about it because we didn't want to get her hopes up. It turned out that I couldn't get work off after all, but Marquis was able to go, so at 4:30 that morning he got up to go wait at the airport. We were both very surprised and so excited when he actually made it on the flight. A couple of hours later when he arrived I called CG to tell her and to get directions to the place where they were having the horse show. Marquis picked up the rental car and off he went, and drove two hours to get there. CG seemed really excited to have her dad there, and he was, of course, so glad to be able to see her and support her in doing what she loves.

All the pictures from that day were taken by Marquis, and since he is a man, when I ask him to explain to me what was going on, the details are somewhat lacking. For instance in this one, he just said, "There's CG and she was looking at something."

"And I think she was telling them something here."

"This is CG and the horse."

"And then she rode the horse."

"Sometimes she made the horse jump."

"Here is CG and a couple of other girls, and then there was this plate."

I love men, especially mine, so funny! Even though he isn't great at remembering or expounding on the details, CG did really well and Marquis had a great time. And then he drove back to the airport for two hours, then waited on standby forever again, and then took another two hour flight home. I'm so very grateful that my girls get to have a father that loves them that much, those are some very lucky girls!
