I love fishing. I'm really, really terrible at it, but I love it. When I'm home, I have a hard time relaxing and just taking a break, there just always seems to be too much that needs to get done. If you are fishing, then you are actively doing something, even if that something also involves sitting quietly on the shore of a reservoir enjoying the sunshine and the pretty view. Plus, if you catch something, you have super fresh fish to grill up for dinner, yum!
I wanted a funny fishing quote for my title, and in looking for one I found so many that I like that instead of my rambling between these pics, you get to enjoy the quotes, too.
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. ~Doug Larson
There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington IrvingThe charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. ~John Buchan
Give a man a fish and he has food for a day; teach him how to fish and you can get rid of him for the entire weekend. ~Zenna Schaffer
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark
(See that boat? I totally caught it. Catch and release, though, I had to give it back to the owners, who promptly moved it. I guess they weren't appreciative of the fish hook through their upholstery.)Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths. ~Author Unknown
An angler is a man who spends rainy days sitting around on the muddy banks of rivers doing nothing because his wife won't let him do it at home. ~Author UnknownOk, I have to interrupt (again) to explain this picture. As we were sitting there this man came along one of the side banks. I have to tell you that I am not the one who noticed him, it was the men, who immediately pointed him out to me (thanks, guys!) and named him Thor. This pic is not quite zoomed in enough, but can you see why they called him that?
And I'm sure you are wondering, where are the pics of the fish? The excited kids holding up their catch? Well....
The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. ~A.K. Best
