Marquis and I have been doing a lot of thinking and talking about presents lately as the birthdays of our two little ones are approaching. In the past we have given them things that they have needed, car seats or clothes or whatever. But really, how much fun is that? Boring! And they really don't need anything right now. There are a ton of cheap, crappy toys out there that would make the girls happy for a little while, but then the toys would just be added to the gigantic pile of toys we already have, that same pile of toys that I desperately need to sort through and get rid of probably half. Do we really need more useless crap filling up our house? Plus, most of all I want to teach them that the best things in life have nothing to do with how much money you spend or how many presents you get for their birthday.
So, here's the idea. Instead of giving stuff, we want to give our kids birthday experiences. We will take them out and let them do something that will be fun and exciting and just for them, something that will provide good memories and a good experience, without us just cluttering up our house. I've been trying to think of some ideas for some experiences, but what? I'm coming up dry! Princess's second birthday will be here in less than a month, and Sweetheart's fifth birthday just a month after that, time is running short.
So help a girl out, does anyone have any ideas? It would need to be in or close to the Salt Lake Valley. The birthday budget is rather teeny, we usually only spend around $40 or less on birthdays. Something involving Trax might be good for Sweetheart, she has been talking about how exciting it was to ride the train since the last time we took it like a year ago. And any ideas for a beautiful almost 17-year-old would be apprecaited, too, even though her birthday isn't for awhile. Plus, Christmas is coming and we'd like to do the same thing
Help!

There is a family in the ward, who talked it over with their kids and they all gave up their birthday and Christmas gifts and everyone in the family got a season pass to Lagoon (most of their kids are older). They have been having a blast! But the little girls birthday so close maybe you can buy a year membership to the children's musume. Then it is a fun trip down town whenever you want anytime of the year. If you get a year membership you get 3 free guest to go with you so when CG is in town she can go with you and you all can have some fun, but you can do just a 6 month membership. We have been having fun doing a membership for our family and going and doing something for the kids and ourselves birthday. I agree, and I think we are going to do something like that this next year too!
Oh and we are routating each year what we are doing so last year we did Thanksgiving point, this year we are doing pass of all passes which has been fun with all the different things to go do. :)
