Remember That Thing I Said I'd Never Do Again? - Part 2

(Part 1 is here if you missed it.)

As we were getting ready for the day the first morning of camping, I asked Sweetheart how she wanted her hair done. "Two braids," was her answer, and since this has been the answer a lot lately, I already had two ponytail holders ready to go. I parted her hair and put half in a ponytail holder just to keep it out of my way while I did the first braid. When the first one was done, before I could get started on the second, my girl took off, way too eager to be about the business of the day to wait for another braid. I protested, of course, "I'm not done! What about your other braid?"

"I don't want another!" she yelled back at me as she ran off after her cousins.

And that is why she spent the day with one ponytail, and one braid.

Hard to see, I know, she was too busy to stand still for the pics, too.

Princess was allowed to play in dirt and water and nature and had a grand time.

Grandpa brought his ice cream maker, and each of the grandkids took a turn at the crank to make some yummy, homemade vanilla ice cream.

My brother's wife found the cutest ideas for activities for the kids, and I think the best idea ever was these stick horses made out of pool noodles. They just bent the top down and tied it with twine to make the head with a bride, and colored a face with crayons.

I will soon be putting on a video of Sweetheart riding hers because it's just so funny, but we somehow didn't get one. Here is Princess going for a little ride.

We came home with a new pet, too. This is Sheshe. Had I known when Sweetheart first suggested this name that it means urine in Portuguese, I may have requested another name for our yellow caterpillar. Whoops!

The girls have had a wonderful time watching Sheshe crawl around her jar. I don't know how long this critter will survive, but the entertainment it has provided so far was well worth bringing it home!

When we got home I threw the girls in the tub, then put Princess down for a nap and ordered Marquis to take his shower while I cleaned everything up. I then took my turn in the shower and came out to find this:

What you can't see is that Marquis was asleep on the rest of the couch. Looks like camping wore everyone out!
