Yes, the new title for this segment is cliche, but it's the best I've got. If you have any better title suggestions, let me know, I'm open to ideas!
And here we go!
Sometimes during Sweetheart's annual visits with the allergist, they will test her blood there to see exactly how allergic she is to foods. I had thought they would do that again this time, but they didn't. Later, as Marquis was asking Sweetheart about her visit, he asked her if the doctor had taken some blood, to which she replied, "Of course not, Dad! He's a doctor, not a vampire!"
Sweetheart: "Daddy's hugs are much more sweeter than yours. But that's ok, I like yours anyway."
Me: "Princess, do you have to go potty?"
Princess: "No! Why my bum was wiggling like that was because it was waving goodbye to you!"
Princess: "Mom, I've had soda before, and I didn't even die or get sick!" (These are the comments you get when you are a crazy food lady who doesn't think kids need soda all the time.)
Sweetheart was at swimming lessons and they were talking about how to do a back float. They compared it to lying back and taking a peaceful nap in the water. Sweetheart piped up and loudly announced that she has practiced a lot, she is super good at taking naps!
At the end of swimming lessons they have about 5 minutes of free time. They put floaties on the kids' arms and then they can go down the slide or off the diving board. Sweetheart (unfortunately for her) takes after me in the swimming skills department, and is usually content to just float around the pool for free time. One day her floaties weren't blown up quite all the way, and she was having a hard time keeping them on her skinny arms. By the time she asked for new ones, class was over, and my tender-hearted girl broke down crying when they told her she'd have to wait until the next day for new floaties. She was crying to me about the problem and telling me that since she didn't have good floaties, she couldn't go down the slide or jump off the diving board. I was surprised she said that because she seemed very uninterested in either one, and I asked her, "Well, did you want to go down the slide or on the diving board?" to which she emphatically replied, "No!!!!"
At storytime one day as the kids were coloring their art projects, some little boys were discussing that they really wished they had some purple crayons, and couldn't seem to find any in their crayon bin. There were two right on the top of ours, so I grabbed them and handed them to the little boys. Sweetheart piped up and said, "That's my mom, she is a friend to all!"
