In Utah, July 24th is celebrated as the day that the pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley. This year we spent the day in Wallsburg, where Aunt Kirsten's parents live, and participated in their annual shindig.
It was a very fun day that started with a parade, which was really fun for the kids. Especially the part where they threw candy!

Here is CG, chillin' with the puppy..

After the parade we walked next door to the park so the party could begin. The boy on the left in the black shirt is my nephew Derek, who Sweetheart just loved. He was so good with her!

Waiting in the bleachers for the show to begin.

And CG, waiting happily as well.

Here are a bunch of the cousins. What a good-looking group!

As part of the show there was a man playing the piano and singing, and Sweetheart really started jammin'. She doesn't start dancing until about 1/2 way through this video, but it's pretty cute when she does.
More dancing.
As part of the festivities, the kids got to chase chickens and bunnies, and if they caught one then they got to keep it. Six years ago, Josh, who was not able to come this trip, caught both a bunny and a chicken. This year Caleb carried on his brother's legacy and caught a chicken. Since they don't allow chickens on the airplane, he gave it to a friend there. I actually ended up carrying this chicken, in a box, next door. I never, ever thought I would be carrying around a live chicken!

After the party in the park was over, we spend the evening at Kirsten's parents house. The boys next door let us come look at their cute little baby bunnies. Sweetheart was fascinated!

The boy in the background of this picture is the neighbor boy, who was the perfect little cowboy complete with a couple of "Yeehaws!" Too funny! His brother knew so much about the different types of chickens that it was amazing! He was giving us so much info. I really had no idea there were different types of chickens other than just boneless skinless breasts or thighs or wings, but he knew which were good for eating, which for eggs, the names of the different breeds, etc. Amazing little guy!
This cute little brown one was CG's favorite, and mine too. They were so soft and sweet!

I loved this picture with Sweetheart and the dog both looking out. Outside the window to the left you can see CG coming inside.

Sweetheart loves her Poppa!!

We had a wonderful day! Kirsten's parents were so gracious and welcoming in letting us spend the day with them and in their house. And I'm so glad my kids get to experience such fun things that they would not normally get to do!
