Seven rental car companies with crappy policies... (There is no way our car would make it to California and back, but for some reason renting a car when you are a local can get tricky. At least at airport locations.)
One mini-breakdown.... (Thought our trip was doomed, drank a Dt. Coke, had a nap and felt better.)
Finally finding a good rental car company... (Thank you Enterprise!!)
Eight hours in the car. EIGHT WHOLE HOURS!... (I have worked for two different airlines for a reason. I get twitchy in cars. I think I have a phobia of some kind.)
A night in a crappy hotel in Reno... (Ew, but at least we were not in the car!)
Four more hours in the car. FOUR!!...
Unnumbered amount of dirty gas station bathrooms...
Only two screaming fits... (Neither one was by me, surprisingly! And overall she did great, just had a hard time when hungry and tired.)
And we are finally here!!! And every second is worth it because of this right here:

I totally could have loaned you my car DVD player...that thing is a lifesaver on long road trips! DIdn't even think of it until I saw this post. Next time, friend.
Oh, thank you! She actually did awesome, even better than me. We let her get too hungry one time and she complained a bit and then didn't like the idea of going to sleep in the car the first night, but as soon as we turned on some Disney music she konked right out. The rest of the time she completely entertained herself and was a great little road warrior!
