First day in California

We arrived at CG's house to pick her up not long after noon on Friday, March 26. I was starving, because I'm always starving lately, and so we decided to check out the local taqueria. Not a bad little joint with good tamales and some fun outdoor seating.

See her black eye? Poor girl inherited my grace, or lack thereof, and had a run in (quite literally) with a table at my grandparent's house. Whoops! She is still so cute, though!

And I got CG to smile for me!

Half a second before I took this pic, Marquis and CG were both looking at me, but instead of smiling they quickly turned and pretended to not notice. Silly guys. At least Sweetheart will ham it up for me.

And here are my gorgeous girls.

I can't believe I am going to share this next picture, it is actually quite scary, but there is a funny story to go along with it, so I'm going to be brave and do it anyway. After lunch we found a hotel and got checked in. I sat on the bed for just a minute or two, I thought, when I opened my eyes right as Marquis took this picture:

Apparently I fell asleep as soon as I sat down and was out for awhile, and my patient family just let me sleep. Sweetheart had climbed up there and wrapped my arm around her baby to help me sleep, and I didn't even notice. Growing another human makes me tired!

After my nap we took CG shopping for her birthday present. We went to the Great Mall, which is gigantic, and walked around forever trying to find a teeny backpack for her to take on her East Coast trip. We had a simple dinner in the food court after we finally found the perfect one, and then went back to the hotel for the night. Not a terribly exciting first day, but we were just so happy to see each other that we didn't care!
