This past week has been way too exciting. I really prefer it when my life is boring and predictable, but this week started out with a bang with a really scary Monday. I have Mondays off so I had planned to go have lunch with my mom, sister and nephew at my mom's work. I had the girls all ready to go and buckled Princess into the car. I threw the diaper bag on the front passenger seat and the fancy key will all the buttons for the alarm and locks onto the driver's seat, and then went around to buckle in Sweetheart. As I was buckling her I realized her Pull-Up was wet, so I grabbed her and went to quickly put a new Pull-Up on her. As I shut the car door, all the doors locked. With my baby and the key inside.
With my baby inside!!!!
I then proceeded to freak out. A lot. The fancy key on the driver's seat is the one Marquis usually uses. My keys typically reside in the side pocket of the diaper bag, which was locked in the front seat of the car. My cell phone was in that same pocket, and since we don't have a home phone, I had no way to call for help, and with our only keys locked in the car, I had no idea who to even call or how to get a new key. I finally realized that I could get on my laptop and chat with Marquis to figure out what to do. As the laptop was booting up I remembered that Sweetheart had been playing in the side pocket of the diaper bag earlier, and I started hoping and praying that she had pulled out my keys and put them somewhere. I was running around asking Sweetheart to help me find the keys, crying about my baby being locked in where I couldn't get to her. I was so relieved when I found my keys hidden under a blanket on the floor. Princess was only locked in for about five minutes and she was totally fine, but those were some of the scariest minutes!
I was so glad to then go see my mom and sister and we had a fun lunch with them. We let Sweetheart and my nephew play on the grass for a few minutes before we left. In the car on the way home Sweetheart started to wheeze. She had done this a couple of other times, but always at night and it had gone away pretty quickly, so I didn't worry too much. Since it was during the day this time, I called the doctor, but by the time they were able to get us in the wheezing had stopped. The doctor said it sounded like asthma, but trying to get a 3-year-old to do the things they needed to do to really test it was hard, so they just gave us an inhaler.
We are pretty boring people, and that is how I like it. I enjoy my daily routine of cleaning and laundry and work and playing with my beautiful girls. Exciting days like this are usually few and far between for us, so I figured the rest of the week (month?) would probably be back to same old, same old. Boy was I wrong!
To be continued...
