It's my birthday! I was trying to figure out what to do or say for my birthday, and I decided that I probably needed a picture of myself for this post. Pictures of myself make me cringe just a little, so I decided to go to the really old, old pictures (read: skinny) and find something there. And then I wasted an hour or more looking through all our old pics. What fun! I narrowed it down to five that I am going to share with you, along with a little get-to-know you session. So they are, five things that you probably already knew about me!
No. 1: I used to play the bagpipes. I played a bunch of other instruments, too, but the bagpipes are, of course, the most awesome. In the pic below I am the only one with a big shiny metal thing below the feather on my hat. I've been in probably a billion parades, have competed all over, and most of all had a grand time with a really fun group of people. I wish I still had some pipes and could still play, but blah, blah, life and excuses.

No. 2: I love Coca-Cola! I love everything about it. Mmmm, chemicals, yum, yum. I love straight up Coca-Cola Classic, but my favorite is the even more chemical-laced Dt. Coke. I collect the memorabilia, too, although the past few places I have lived my collection has stayed in boxes because I just don't have the right space to unleash the full fury. When we finally find that place, it will be awesome!
No 3: I have chased rainbows in Scotland. This was for sure my favorite trip I have ever taken. Marquis and I went a year after we were married, and we still tell stories about it because we had such a wonderful time! We were so lucky because even though we were poor newlyweds, I worked for an airline and so we just had to pay the taxes for our flights, and because we camped and stayed cheap places and really skimped on food, it really didn't cost that much more than if we had just stayed home. I can't wait to go back! Too bad this time we'd have to pay the regular price. I really miss my flight benefits sometimes!
No. 4: I have a thing for long-haired men. To be honest, I have a thing for Marquis whatever length his hair is, but if he grows it out, then looks at me with it blowing in his face while he is perched on a rocky beach in Scotland? Yeah, it's over, I fall hard and fast all over again. I love that man!
No 5: I was and still am very excited to be a stepmom. Of course, when the kid involved is as awesome as CG, it's pretty easy to put up with the hard stuff that will always come with trying to be a step-parent, no matter how good the situation. I am so proud of the person that she is. I just can't believe that when we first met she was only this big!
Looking at all these pictures, I can't help but feel so incredibly grateful. I am a very blessed girl! Happy birthday to me!

Awww I'm glad I get to know you! Thanks for being an 'infert' with me and then a "mot" with me. :) Haha I love that you're right there every step of the way, from brand new Leannan and Colby's, to getting my pregnancy test drama with Parker! Things just get better and better!
You play the bagpipes?!?!? You've been holding out on me! That's freaking awesome! I'm telling Alan as soon as he gets home.
Hope you have a wonderful, fabulous, special birthday, my friend! We three girls need to get out for lunch soon to celebrate.
Ha, ha Knew everything except for the Rainbow thing! You go girl!
Love ya!
Thanks guys! Amy, I'm so glad we got to do those things together, too! The next baby you are on your own, though, but I'll be there ooing and aahing over them.
Heidi, I played the bagpipes, past tense. Really wish I still could, and I think it wouldn't take long to get it back if I could get my hands on some. Someday!
Happy Birthday! It was AWESOME to read about you. :)
