Princess's First Words

Sweetheart's first words were pretty easy to define. Her first word ever was a variant of CG's real name, and then she rolled out the normal Mama, Dada, No-no, etc.

Princess? This is a girl who likes to do her own thing. (Anyone who knows Marquis in real life is chuckling to themselves a little right now, they know right where she got it!) Princess has actually been saying a few different things for awhile, I just didn't realize what she was saying because I was waiting for the normals. She also doesn't usually say any one word consistently enough for me to know for sure she is saying a word on purpose, or if it is just a happy coincidence that the sounds she makes happen to fit perfectly with the situation.

For example, Marquis was packing the diaper bag, and Princess came over, grabbed a diaper, and said what sounded a lot like "Diaper!" but she has never said it since. Probably twice I have put one of our dress-up tiaras on her head, and she has tilted her cute little head to the side and said, "Pretty." At least I think that is what she said. There are a few words she will say more consistently, like Dee dee (Daddy), Nee nee (no-no), and hi (usually when holding something to her ear). The other one she is pretty good at is if you are holding her and say, "Where is my nose?" she will then jab you in the eye and say, "Eye!"

The one thing she won't say? Momma. I have tried and tried, and at first she would oblige and say it every once in awhile, but not for a long, long time. I think she thinks that she doesn't need to know my name, that all she has to do is cry and I will come running, pick her up and give her anything she wants.

She is pretty much right.
