One of our favorite movies around here is Tangled, we've probably seen it about a bazillion times. So when we already had the perfect purple dress, what other choice would there be for Halloween? So I made this:
I think it looks a little wonky in the front. If Sweetheart would hold still long enough for me to mess with it I think I could fix it and it would look way better, but she won't, so I'm leaving it how it is. But I love how it turned out in the back.
All I did was take an old pair of Sweetheart's tights, put them on her head, tied it with a little piece of yarn, then cut off the legs. I turned that inside out and then had a base to attach the yarn to. I measured the length I needed, and discovered that if I made Marquis wind the yarn around our end table, that was the perfect length. This is two skeins of yarn. I then got bunches of about 10 strands of yarn each, and sewed a stitch around each bunch in a line on the tights, right where I wanted the part to be, tying a strong knot on the underside of the tights between each bunch. I did this with about 2/3 of the yarn, and then I put the rest in a line about an inch away on the side that looked thin. After it was all sewn on I braided it and stuck in a bunch of flower hair clippies that we already had. Voila! Not perfect, but I'm still pretty pleased!
