Why, go camping, of course!
Why is it I just can't seem to stop going camping? I'm not sure, but somehow I was talked into going camping yet again this past summer. We went with some really good friends and despite the fact that we were in the middle of nowhere in the cold, we had a really good time!
Sweetheart cuddled up with the friends' daughter, CG's Utah BFF. I think they both appreciated the extra warmth, and Sweetheart ended up falling asleep in her lap.
The next morning a squirrel showed up to steal our breakfast. Can you see him up in the tree? That branch was the perfect reconnaissance spot.
Then the fearless little guy came in looking for food. He has obviously been around lots of people and is used to being fed!
Hey, get away from my hot chocolate, buddy! No one stands between a girl and her chocolate!
It came as a complete surprise to me that camping one week before moving was actually exactly what I needed at that moment. It turns out having a whole day away from cell phone service, internet, and the long list of things that needed to happen before moving day really helped me to relax and destress so I could dig in and finish the job without a major meltdown.
Maybe that's what people like about camping? Maybe there are good things about it after all? Don't you dare quote me on that, I'll never admit it!
What is for sure is that the girls had a fantastic time, as evidenced by how deeply Sweetheart napped after we got back. On one of our dining room chairs, of course, what better place?
