| My current work station, a simple card table in the girls' toy room, always with a warm blanket to cuddle in. |
Thankfully a friend of mine told me about the school she was going to and that her sister had completed, and that her sister was now working at home as a medical transcriptionist. I studied it out for myself and decided that it really was the best school for medical transcription, and that more companies hired from that school than any other, so I decided to sign up. We didn't have the money for it and I didn't have the time for it, but I did it anyway, and I will always be so grateful that I did it.
There are good things and bad things about being a medical transcriptionist. The good things are obvious, I get to be here with my babies, I get to work anywhere that has internet connection and my work schedule is fairly flexible as long as I get my work done. And when it comes down to it, I really enjoy my job, way more than I ever thought I would when I started this.
The bad things are first of all that being a work at home mom is hard! Being a working mom is super hard, and being a stay at home mom is way hard, and combining those two is not for the faint of heart! I feel like I am constantly working, any minute that I'm not cooking or cleaning or taking care of little girls, I'm plugged in to my laptop and working. This will get a lot better when both girls are in school and I can work without all the interruptions, but for now I'm just grateful that I get to be here with them. Also, doing what I do will never make the big bucks, especially while still taking care of little girls. I definitely don't make as much as I did in my office job with JetBlue. It is enough to make a dent in our bills and keep me home, though, and that's enough for me.
So here's what I've learned in my search for a real, legitimate work at home job. First, you aren't going to find a real one that you can just walk into and start right away with no experience whatsoever, it's just not out there. If the company is legit, they are going to want qualified people, that's just the way it is. So why not become qualified? I could have started my job years sooner if I had simply started the training when I first heard about it instead of spending all that time looking for something I could start right away. If you are interested in checking out the school I went to, all the info is here. I'm happy to answer any questions that you have!
