Well, cake, I could ask for chocolate cake. You have to have cake on your birthday after all!
I did this a couple of years ago, and I thought it might be time for another round of random facts you may or may not know about me.
But first, a totally random, unrelated picture!
This is a 13-year-old picture of me (The picture is 13 years old, not me. I think I'm 21 here.) just chillin' on the streets of downtown Glasgow.
Random fact #1: I'm a stickler for routines. I like to have things happen in the same order each day, and it really throws me off when things just don't go according to plan. I like my alarm clock going off at the same time each morning, hitting snooze exactly three times, drinking my funny warm lemon water while reading before I start to exercise in the morning. I like knowing that dinner will be on the table at exactly 6:00 p.m. and that it will be cleaned up and the kitchen shining and spotless by 7:00, then baths and little girls to bed by 8:00. Keep in mind, I have a 3-year-old. I think God gives people like me 3-year-olds to teach them how to just suck it up and deal with it when life gets a little crazy.
Random fact #2: I have mentioned before that my real job is being a medical transcriptionist, working at home. I don't know if this is unique to me or if this happens to all medical transcriptionists, but as I go throughout my day, even and maybe especially the parts where I'm not working, I will have random medical language run through my head. You could be talking to me in the halls of church or on the phone or I could be sitting in storytime singing the Wheels on the Bus, and suddenly the words "acute myelogenous leukemia" or "atraumatic, normocephalic" or "positive urine culture for enterococcus" will flash across my brain.
Random fact #3: I love to read. Yes, this is a boring fact, but it's true. I have found that I most like to read young adult books, because you are less likely to run into the muck that can fill adult books. Also, I don't consider myself mature enough yet for most of the adult books and I hope I never am. I don't have time to read as much as I like, at least not yet, but someday! If you have any good book suggestions, don't hesitate to send them my way!
Random fact #4: Actually having the time to sit down and read for a couple of hours with no interruptions; although it is my perfect, dream day; would drive me insane. I have to be moving and doing and fixing and cleaning. If I had nothing on my list to do, I would invent new things and the list would never end. I have such a hard time holding still!
Random fact #5: I can't stand to have emails in my inbox. To me, that is another list of things I need to do or reply to or worry about, so I do whatever it is as fast as I can, or I file the emails into different folders to get them out of my inbox and keep everything very organized and neat. I usually have about 5 emails hanging out in my inbox, but any more than that and I start to get a little twitchy. This has only gotten worse now that I have a smart phone and can check my email anywhere. Not good! I'm working on keeping it in the realm of healthy, but wow, it's hard!
I just read through all those and realized that this is basically the post where I confess to being just flat out crazy. Thankfully, when you reach the ripe old age of 35, you don't care anymore. I like what I like and I am what I am, and if you don't like it, you can just make fun of my crazy and move on. Or come play along if you want, that's much more fun!
