(Part 1 is here.)
Random, random, random. If you've been reading this blog for any amount of time, you are well aware that my train of thought is not necessarily linear. The pictures in these November Grand Adventure posts are not in order, at all. But oh well!
First we are going to go back in time just a little bit to talk about something that is very important. In my world, one thing that is very, very important is pie.
Thankfully, my sister-in-law is also very serious about her pie, and between her awesome pie baking skills and those of my mother-in-law, we were very well stocked in pie. The pies in the picture below left are just what was left on Thanksgiving, we had way more pies than this on pie night! Our girls seem to have picked up my love for pie, especially Princess. Yum!
The Friday after Thanksgiving we had a big birthday party for Marquis's parents. Tons of their friends and family had been invited and we had a huge spread of food. It was a wonderful party, but somehow I didn't end up with any pictures! Maybe I was just having too much fun chatting with so many great people.
The next day the party continued. We woke up early and had pie for breakfast (of course!), then headed off to get family pictures. We had to take advantage of having everyone there! We should get the pictures from the photographer soon, but we also took a few pictures of our own as we played around at the cute farm where we had the pictures taken. We stopped for a pit stop at the restroom, and then had all the grandkids line up by height. What a cute idea, I love these pics! (We are missing one of my nephews who is on a mission for our church in France.)
After the pictures were over, one of the nephews and his cute wife were heading to meet some friends at a Mexican Restaurant, and a bunch of us completely crashed their party and joined them.
I always think it's funny to watch this group at this particular restaurant. Their salsa and chips are very well loved, and I have dubbed these kids the "salsa drinkers." I only call them that because I have actually seen them pick up the salsa bowls and drink it. Yes, literally. What else are you going to do when you run out of chips?
With this trip it became evident that Sweetheart has joined the ranks of the salsa drinkers, and we kept emptying bowls of salsa way faster than they could bring them out.
Awhile back Marquis's dad got a Traeger grill, and has been churning out lots of delicious meat ever since. Saturday night we were privileged to enjoy some ribs cooked on the Traeger. Sweetheart may not look like it because she is so super teeny and skinny, but that girl can eat! She proved it that night by eating way more ribs than me, and with gusto!
Sunday early, early morning CG and I made the sad drive to the airport. I was able to hold in the tears until she was on the plane, but oh, I hate that moment when she gets on board! Of course, Marquis hates it even more than I do. He usually is the one to take her, but this time he just couldn't handle it emotionally, so it got to be my turn.
After that, we all went to church, in two locations no less, and then hung out for a little while before we headed home for the end of our Grand Adventure.
The girls loved sleeping over and spending so much time with their cousins. I just loved watching the craziness of it all, all the people and how different they are, and yet how much they just loved being together.
Thanks to all of our family for such a fun adventure!
