We woke up early after our exciting night in the hotel room and got ready to take CG to her horseback riding lesson. We were super excited to see her in action and meet her horse, which for the purposes of this blog I will simply call "T."
First, we got to watch CG as she got T all ready to ride. The first time we saw her do this was years ago with a different horse, I was amazed at her confidence and the way she knew just what to do to take care of the horse. This time I was even more amazed, she was somehow more confident than ever and obviously had lots of experience. She even showed the little girls that the horse has teeth when they asked about it.
CG shed her sweater not too long in to the process, and Princess claimed it pretty fast. They both want to be just like their big sister!
And then we got to watch her ride! CG had quite the audience with me, Marquis, her two little sisters, and her grandparents there to enjoy the show.
Princess, my little adrenaline junkie, loved climbing the fence and making her momma nervous.
Look ma, just one foot, heehee!
Meanwhile, CG was showing off her mad skills.
Some of CG's friends showed up, and it was so fun to meet them! The littles took to them right away and spent most of the time dragging them around to search for potato bugs, and these girls were so sweet and helped them make houses in the dirt for the bugs they found.
After the lesson was over, we got to watch CG take care of T and put him back. Her sisters "helped" a lot in this process.
Princess loved giving T his treats, although she was a little timid.
She wasn't too timid, though, to go around sharing carrots with all the horses.
Sweetheart was a lot more nervous. She did feed T one carrot, but she was super nervous the whole time, and that one carrot was plenty for her.
Princess, on the other hand, kept going back for more and more carrots. I think she liked that the horses also liked one of her favorite foods.
It was such an exciting morning that not long after leaving the barn, we looked in the back seat and saw this:
And this, too:
Next, we were off to lunch, as discussed in the previous post. Unfortunately that's about all the time that we had, so we had to give CG back and head back to the airport. We didn't take many pictures of this part, but we took a plane to Denver, where we had to wait a long, long time for a very delayed flight. We finally boarded around midnight, just after our girlies had fallen asleep in our arms in the airport. Sweetheart woke up to walk on board, but Princess was out cold. This is what she looked like right after we found our seats:
This is Sweetheart right after getting to her seat:
And then about one minute later:
By the time we finally got to the Salt Lake airport it was around 2:00 a.m., and both girls were sleeping hard. There was no way either would be awake enough to walk, so Marquis and I each grabbed our own backpack/laptop bag, one little girl backpack, one roller bag, one car seat, and one daughter, and we somehow made it through the airport. That was the only time in my life we have paid for one of those little roller carts, and it was so very worth it. We were beat! I and the girls sat in the pickup zone while Marquis took the bus out to the car, and then drove over to get us. While we waited I took some pics of the girls because I thought it was hilarious how deeply asleep they were. I had Princess in my arms:
I have no idea what is going on with the red spots on her face. Maybe it was the lighting or maybe the way she had been sleeping on the airplane, but I didn't see it in the dark that night, I only noticed it when I looked at this picture later. Weird!
Sweetheart climbed way under the blanket using my lap as her pillow. You can barely see her pink boot sticking out of the end of the blanket and a bit of her hair under my arm.
June adventure, huge success!
