Princess's Birthday Adventure

I'm still so very far behind! This is the last bit from August, and then I'll only be 2 months behind. At least for a few more days when December hits, then I'll be back to 3 months behind. Sheesh!

Princess's birthday experience was an impromptu event. That Saturday we went to Marquis's summer BBQ for his work. We had planned to go see some friends after, but they had to cancel, so we decided to just go for it since we were out and about anyway. Besides, the work BBQ was really fun, a great start to a great birthday adventure!

After all, they had a magician! The girls were totally amazed. They loved the balloon creatures and flowers he made, and they loved that he pulled a real, life bunny out of his hat. They even got to pet the bunny afterward!

Haha, she is making the funniest face in that picture, I love it!

We didn't realize that this park had a splash pad. Princess was dying to go play in the water, so I said the words that no parent should ever waste their time saying when saying yes to a splash pad, "Just don't get too wet!"

This other little girl was also at the work party, and she dragged Princess all over that splash pad until she was sufficiently soaked through.

Sweetheart decided getting wet didn't sound like fun without the proper attire, and instead had a grand time on the playground equipment next door.

Princess was so soaked by the time we left that we stripped her down to put her in the car. We weren't far from Marquis's parents' house, so we stopped by for a visit and to borrow their dryer.

Once she had dry clothing again, we were off! Last year for Princess's birthday experience, she wanted so badly to go on the "Spirit Wheel." It look a lot of work to finally figure out she was talking about the Ferris Wheel at the Scheel's department store. We wanted some variety in our adventures, but she insisted and begged to do it again, except somehow the name changed from the "Spirit Wheel" to the "Miracle Round." We decided for the sake of variety, we would take a quick spin on the Miracle Round, then take a quick train ride to the Children's Museum. Unfortunately when we got to Scheel's, the line for the Ferris Wheel was about an hour long! She wanted to ride it so desperately that we changed our plans again, and decided to just hang out and see what fun Scheel's had in store for us. But first, we had to entertain two cute little girls in line for an hour.

Then Marquis and the girls went for a fun ride. Princess could be heard from the top yelling, "Woohoo!" and "This is SO FUN!" Sweetheart just sat there with a displeased look on her face, and announced upon getting off that she didn't intend to ever do that again. It cracks me up how different these girls are!

After the Ferris Wheel, we decided we needed some nourishment. The birthday girl wanted pizza and there was a pizza place nearby that we had wanted to try, so we decided to leave for a bit. On the way out we had to stop and say hi to a bear, though.

Oh, and the fish, too. Bye fish! We'll be right back!

We then went and enjoyed some Pizzeria Limone. And I mean, we really did enjoy it! This is not your normal pizza place. What other pizza place would put things like blackberries and pears on pizza? But wow, yum!

The girls were boring, they just got cheese,

and pepperoni. Boring! But hey, they were happy.

Marquis got some kind with several exotic and fancy meats, and I had the best pizza ever invented on the whole planet. Do you see what is on here?

It's a white garlic sauce, red onions, fresh basil, and lemons! Oh, those lemons were the most delicious and perfect pizza topping ever invented! Yum, yum, yum!

After our bellies were full, we headed back to Scheel's for more fun. We decided to try out a few rounds of hockey first.

We also checked out some cool looking fish,

and then we were attacked by a ferocious bear and had to run away!

Thankfully we made it out alive, but after our bear encounter the girls decided it might be a good idea to grab a couple of guns and get in some practice in case it came back.

Yes, Sweetheart's says out of order. Thankfully they are still at the ages that they think they are doing it when the demo is playing, so we don't even need to add in money and they still have a fantastic time!

The girls also caught some giant fish. Good fishing, girls! Too bad this doesn't happen when we fish in real life!

This was a super fun day, and both girls crashed out in the car on the way home because they were thoroughly exhausted from all the fun. I think the birthday girl was very happy with her experience, even when every plan we had fell through. What a good day!
