Allermates Bracelets - The Secret of the Peanut Can

Not long ago I showed you this picture and hinted at something funny that Sweetheart keeps inside.

It's funny that she has this to begin with, that she claimed it as her own when we were going through old boxes, but it's what she keeps in it that I think is the most hilarious.

She has decided it is a jewelry box, and inside she keeps her newest and most awesome piece of bling, her Allermates bracelet.

(Allermates has not given me anything to talk about them, I just think these bracelets are stinkin' cute!)

I'm always looking for any way to protect my sweet baby girl, and she is getting big enough that she sometimes leaves my watchful eye. Preschool has been really good for the both of us, and I know Kindergarten next year will be, too. But, wow, am I scared! Her preschool teacher is super awesome and really watches my baby really closely when it comes to her food allergies, but what if she is around someone who doesn't know? (Not that I would let that happen, but still!)

Isn't this bracelet just about the cutest thing ever? What a fantastic idea! We have planned on getting her one of the regular medical alert bracelets for awhile but they are rather ugly and not that fun. You can get bracelets that just have the individual little allergy guys, but it made the most sense for us to get the bracelet that you can put multiple charms on for her multiple allergies. I love that it has big pictures of the allergens and it's easy to read.

One of the best things about this bracelet is how it is teaching Sweetheart to be more vocal about her allergies. For the first couple of days after she got it, she was showing everyone and telling them all about her allergies. Except she can't say allergy, she says allagee, which I love! I even overheard her one day showing it off to her dolls, "See this one? This means I have an egg allagee. And this one is for my tree nut allagee. And see this one over here? That says I have a peanut allagee." I love it!
